Gates Performing Arts Center—Apokolani and creative arts sharing by mālama ‘āina community creativesIn the spirit of our last four community Hoike — ‘Āina Motherʻs Day. All this troubling change global & local…we need to honor healthy fatherʻs love too! Backyard style on stage. Also, sharing in the theatre front by the forest working ‘ohana: Lehua Alapai, Kekaulike Tomich, Kaala Bertlemann, and others.

Low-key, island, backyard style,
morphs with modern-retro-originals.
Singing, telling, dancing about island ways with a
relaxed, jazzy tropical sway…laughter, tears,
raised eyebrows…”aūe noho’i” as Keoki’s mom would say.

About the theme this year. Uncle says, “No forget three things: Aloha, Humbleness & Respect” For place and each other.. “No Forget the stories”— caring for each other and the larger family of earth winds, waters and living beings. Mele, Mo‘olelo, Hula. Music, Spoken Word, Dance.
